8. Climate Change — Has the Earth been cooling?

This video also looks at whether other planets are also warming, and an Internet myth that NASA is now attributing warming to the sun. In this video I examine the importance of sources — tracking information back to a source and making sure the source is credible. My sources are cited in the video, but I’ll also post them here. Sources are also cited throughout my climate change series. These videos are not a personal opinion or a theory of my own; I’m not a climate scientist or a researcher and I have no qualifications to do anything other than report on what real climate scientists have discovered through their research. So there’s no point in disagreeing with me. If you dislike their conclusions, take it up with the researchers I cite. If I’ve made a mistake in reporting their conclusions, please pooint out the mistake and I will happily correct it. If you think you know better than the experts, write a paper and have it published in a respected, peer-reviewed scientific journal.

@robhoneycutt Do you have any links to what’s believed to have caused the warming during those time periods? Looking around, I haven’t seen too much. I’ve seen there’s a loose correlation with the PDO. At least for the 20th century ones. PDO reconstructions before then are in complete disagreement. I’ve also seen a lack of volcanic activity cited as at least part of the reason for the warming from 1920-1945. Little else though.

Go to my YouTube channel and see my original videos which explain why ever-decreasing low temperatures (if there were ever-decreasing low temperatures) does NOT disprove global warming. All you need is temperature to stay higher on average longer for time-averaged temp to increase with time. Yes - scientists & computer programmers CAN extract the contribution of humans to climate change from all the background noise & causes.

Ocean pH has already dropped from 8.2 to 8.1 & acid H+ ions are up +30%.
Sigourney Weaver narrates “ACID TEST: The Global Challenge of Ocean Acidification.”
This NRDC documentary explores CO2 ocean acidification, which may soon challenge marine life on a scale not seen for tens of millions of years. The film originally aired on Discovery Planet Green.

Thanks for the great vids, watched all 8 of them.

But to say the truth you really need to post one last video about this issue in a ”made easy” style for all of the non-scientific folks out here, i mean, i still am not sure about what to think really about global warming.

TimmacTR May 9, 2010 at 7:13 am

Here’s what i think now after having viewed your videos:
- Earth’s global average temp is up in last years
- Factors for temperature are various (you gave 4) but Carbon gases have a role in it and since they went up they are in part responsible

Points not clear in my head:
- Was the temp going to go up even if there were no humans on earth?
- What will be the consequences?

And what i learned (or reaffirm) about how to approach the issue:
- Always doubt and be skeptical
- Check sources

@TimmacTR Not that it was rocket science or anything, i mean you explained it quite clearly in my opinion. But i still think that you need to state the facts that emerge from this research, like bullet points, so that it is clearer and easier for us to remember, because in a few weeks thinking back about what you said i don’t know what will stay exactly in my head..

WHAT COOLING?
April = 2nd WARMEST April in UAH records of Global Temperatures.
March = HOTTEST March in the UAH 32 year satellite record.
(UAH - Univ. of Alabama, Huntsville is run by Dr. John Christy, well known AGW skeptic)
Global Temps. for February = 2nd WARMEST February in 32 years.
Global Temps. for January = the HOTTEST January for UAH in 32 years.
Temperatures are rising “0.14C/decade” - UAH
2010 is on track to be the HOTTEST year on record since 1880.
So much for global cooling.
LOL!!!

I’ve been following the videos from the first but am lost by now as to what is the point trying to be made. The natural warming/cooling component is not of relevance but the anthropogenic, if any. If such an anthropogenic component is present then virtually no scientific efforts have been invested into scrutinizing the taxation magic wand.
